Next up on the shelf is No One Lives Forever by Jordan Dane, a romantic suspense.
Book III of the No One Series. The books will stand alone.
A simple cover that makes me wonder…is she dead or alive?
MY FRIDAY 56
“You trust this woman,”
“Yes, I do,” he lied.
Of course, he’d be the one to make the call on the payout, but he didn’t have the heart to tell her he’d be in Brazil to do it. And if the funds got paid early, Charboneau’s life would have no more value to the kidnappers. Timing would be everything.
(page 56 in paperback)
MY BOOK BEGINNINGS
Gripping in nine-millimeter Beretta, Nicholas Charboneau peered through the peephole of the penthouse suite, responding to a soft knock. The red and black uniforms of hotel personnel should not have given him any cause for alarm. And yet, the hair at the nape of his neck reacted to a rush of adrenaline. Two men stood by a rolling cart of white linen, covered with food platters and a bottle of Brazilian merlot with a distinctive label.

It is an interesting cover. This week I am spotlighting a contemporary mystery/thriller – Merciless by Lori Armstrong. Happy reading!
Covers are super important to me and I know I miss books when the cover doesn’t talk to me. Have a wonderful weekend, Kathy.
That beginning raises my “danger” vibe, even though it seems like a perfectly ordinary scene on the other side of the door. Thanks for sharing…and enjoy. And thanks for visiting my blog.
I like your danger vibe and I’m with you.
Sounds like an action packed story. Cover art is a bit rattling for me and Chicago is a corrupt city, for sure. I bet this is thrilling for you to read!
Makes me want to read more of Jordan Dane’s work. I’ll be looking for him at the library next tie I stop in.
Sounds interesting and the cover is kind of eerie, thanks for showcasing it. 🙂

Friday Memes
I know what you mean. A cover can make the difference on whether I check it further or not and this is one that drew me in.
I like the cover, interesting and a little creepy. The blurb sounds really good too. I think I’ll look into this series. Thanks for sharing! Here’s my Friday memes. Have a great weekend and happy reading!
I have only read this book by Jordan Dane, but I will be looking for more!
I love your knick knacks on the shelf!
The book sounds pretty good too! Happy weekend!
Thanks Freda. Books need some bling too. LOL
Hmm, I’m wondering why he’s lying about trusting this woman. Hope you have a great weekend!
Have to read it to find out. LOL Thaks for dropping in, Alicia and have a great weekend.
I like it. Makes me think of seeing one thing and knowing something else?
Good one, Laura. Happy reading and enjoy the sunshine!
I’m wondering whether it’s Raven or Jasmine on the cover. I’m not sure I like the deceit he’s about to commit.
Does the end justify the means? You decide.
I like the cover, and the 56. Lying about trusting seems a little ironic.
For sure. Is there ever a time when lying is warranted?
Really interesting 56! The cover really creeps me out!
It does have a foreboding look of things to come. 🙂
Love that opening! 🙂
By the way, I like that green figurine on the shelf!
Check out my Friday 56 (With Book Beginnings).
Hi Lauren. My mother made that when she was taking a pottery class. It’s her version of a frog, she loves frogs. 🙂
Berettas and penthouses? That’s not a combination I see everyday!
Does it make you want to know more? 🙂
Oh that looks good. I don’t think I’ve tried this author yet but sounds so familiar. I need to go check my Goodreads shelves.
Good luck in your search. I think you would enjoy Jordan Dane’s work.
