This is the perfect time of year for RUM PUNCH by Elmore Leonard.
This is the cover I have, a 1st edition hardback published in 1992. It is embossed with raised lettering and design. I love the heron with the ammo.
Check out the others below. I am curious which you would like best.
My 56
They had booked Jackie at the admitting desk, removed the handcuffs, and brought her to a counter at the end of a narrow hallway where she was searched, photographed, and fingerprinted on six separate cards. She studied a list of bail bondsmen…
(Page 65, 56 was blank, in hardcover)
Oops…forgot Book Beginnings
Sunday morning, Ordell took Louis to watch the white-power demonstration in downtown Palm Beach.
“Young skinhead Nazis…”
My question to you: Do you think Jackie and her bail bondsman will become an item?
GOODREADS BLURB: The inimitable Elmore Leonard follows up his bestseller Maximum Bob with a punch–Rum Punch–where a gun dealer, a flight attendant, and a bail bondsman make interesting bedfellows. When Jackie gets caught smuggling her boss’s gun money on the airline she works for, she hatches a plan with her bail bondsman to walk off with the money.

WHICH COVER WOULD YOU CHOOSE, Including the one above?
Hmmmm… I wonder why she’s studying the list. I’m not sure if she will hook up with one.
Good morning, Naomi. Thanks for dropping in! Have a super day.
Ooh, how did I miss this one. From your question, I think they will become an item. LOL I like the last two covers the best, but that first one is good too. Feels southern!
My Friday 56 from Pandemic
I’m partial to the first one…since I own that one, but I agree with the last two. Pretty damn good and would make me want to read it if I hadn’t already.
I’ve never read anything by this author. This does sound like a good one. This week I am spotlighting The Crepes of Wrath by Sarah Fox. Happy reading!
Leonard is an entertaining author and I think you may enjoy Rum Pumch.
Most definitely they will land up together. I think I like the green cover. Thanks for sharing. Here’s my Friday read –Wastedby Mark Winkler.
May take a cocktail or two to get through this one. LOL
I like the green cover.
Great choice. Does jump off the ‘shelf’.
Ooh, another Friday book meme! I’m just starting to discover these and they’re so much fun. I think the bail bondsman is a passing thought…er, maybe, LOL.
Thanks for checking out my post on Friday Book Share. Fridays are happening! 🙂
Welcome, Mae. I have been going through my bookshelf in alphabetical order and sharing whatever comes next. I like your Friday post too….hmmm…more to share?
So first thing I thought when I saw the title was Mary Poppins….lol.
Okay, so this sounds interesting and I like the white cover with the car on it. 🙂

LOL That is a cool cover.
Seems like it could be good. Thanks for sharing. 🙂
Anything that sounds tropical and contains a mystery definitely peaks my curiosity.
I’m a fan of Leonard’s writing, but I haven’t read this one. Sounds like I need to add it to my TBR. I like the original red-and-black cover best.
Thank you for visiting my blog and leaving a comment.

Jumps off the page at me and I love that. We have great taste in reading, Sandra. 🙂
I’ve heard of this author but haven’t read anything before. Sounds pretty good though. 🙂
Happy weekend!
A perfect time of year for some tropical reading. Have a great weekend, Freda.
I like the sound of this one. It’s been a while since I read Elmore Leonard, but I enjoy his humor and his perspective on life. Thanks for sharing, and enjoy. And thanks for visiting my blog.
I’m always happy to surf around and see what everyone is reading. Thanks for visiting Laurel.
Well, it sounds like it will be interesting for you.
Elmore Leonard is one of those authors that are always on my radar. Thanks for visiting David.
Ooh, what did Jackie do? She sounds so calm in this excerpt as well. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Psst…over here…
On second thought, you have to read it to find out. LOL Have a great weekend, Alicia.
Sounds good. I’ve never read this author before, although he’s been highly recommended. Have a great weekend!
Heron with ammo! I’m VERY intrigued. You and your speculations … I actually think they will 😉
