Sherry’s Shelves #180 – Binging on Some Movies on the Lifetime Channel #Movies

.

Sherry’s Shelves #178 is my weekly update from 1.20.19 – 1.26.19.

~~~
Hello fellow bloggies. We have had some rain off and on and some colder weather, but right now the sun is shining and it’s in the 60s. I am already thinking of spring, getting a jump on the household spring cleaning. I am binging on movies, with lots of smiles and a few tears. August Rush was the first movie and if you have never seen it, I will tell you that I loved it. My rating – 4 Stars. A young boy was given up for adoption and ends up on the streets. He is a musical prodigy and believes he will find his parents through music. Music speaks to me, as I am sure it does to a lot of us. After watching this, the ‘noise’ around me won’t be the same. And…yes…there were some tears in my eyes, even though I knew the ending.
Now, I’m watching Me Before You. I love the young woman, Emilia Clarke. She is so sweet, spunky, and cute as hell. I feel I know what’s coming, but I can hardly wait to find out. Me Before You has the highest highs and lowest lows. I feel like Jojo Moyes ripped my heart out and stomped on it. 5 Stars for this brilliant and surprising, for me, movie!
What about you? Seen any good movies lately?
  1. I gave up my Direct TV and really miss watching my channels. I just couldn’t pay the almost $200 a month to keep it. I am looking at other providers so I can at least watch regular shows. I miss Lifetime!
    • Sorry about that. I hope you find something. Do you still have Netflix? We are always looking around because cable is so much money, but so is everything else. We watch a lot of sports and it’s hard to get access.
  2. I’ll have to look into that movie, August Rush, I was also adopted so any movie with that theme is always intriguing. Have you ever saw the movie, Lion? An indian kid is adopted by australian family, and as a kid goes back to find his parents by using google maps.
  3. It’s been a long time since I saw August Rush, but I remember it fondly, and loved the soundtrack. I am afraid to watch Me Before You, because I ugly cried and was a hot mess when I read that book.
    • I think you would probably ugly cry over the movie to. It is so sad, but there is plenty of laughter too.
    • I am more of a TV addict than movies, but sometimes I get on a roll and watch whatever is hanging around. Find some wonderful surprises that way.
    • I do remember the snow fondly, but I don’t miss it. A good movie is always worth a rewatch. 🙂
    • I’d rather have snow then sleet. Too often it means ice and that was never any fun. Thanks for dropping in Mary.
  4. Me Before You is a lot of fun. I’ve never heard of August Rush before! Thanks for introducing me to it!
    (I’m a little late in responding to this post, but here now 🙂 ) Hope you are having a fantastic day!
    • Usually it’s me that hasn’t heard of a movie. Happy to introduce you to August. No worries, there is no time limit. Sometimes days go by before I am able to respond myself.
  5. I have Direct TV and every month I bite the bullet with the bill. Sometimes I get them to cut me deals. I justify it by the fact that we don’t go out to the movies anymore and rarely eat out so it’s the “entertainment” portion of our budget. I love Emilia and she is my favorite on Game of Thrones.
    • Yeah, I look at it the same way. It actually can save money if you are a movieaholic. lol. I have never watched Game of Thrones, but have begun the series. Whether I will finish it or not…who knows. lol
    • Yeah, kitchen’s are probably the most important room in the house. Mine’s a mess too. Good luck finding anything in the cupboards, especially the lower ones. LOL
