MY TEASE

(14% on Kindle)

Jack’s strategy was to dive right into double stints for each driver – each stint representing anywhere from thirty to sixty minutes, which was the most we could do non a full tank of fuel.

The exact time was dependent on yellow flags, because if caution flew past the halfway point of a fuel load, we’d pit under yellow. Each driver would do triple stints or more later in the race, especially in the late-night and early-morning hours, but to get our feet wet, we started with about two ours of driving time, give or take those yellow flags.

SYNOPSIS

Racecar driver Kate Reilly is suited up and ready for the start of the legendary 24 Hours of Daytona. But what lies ahead is not just a racing challenge but a harrowing test of her will and nerve off the course.
.
Even before the green flag waves over Daytona International Speedway, Kate receives word her boyfriend Stuart is hospitalized nearby in a coma, fighting for his life after a hit-and-run. Stunned by the news, Kate can do nothing better for Stuart than complete her scheduled laps driving her team’s car. But more shocks follow as Daytona’s clock starts ticking. An on-track accident ends tragically. Some of her complicated family is spotted with other teams—why? And an eyewitness claims Stuart was run down deliberately by someone from the race paddock.
.
Alternating stints behind the wheel of the team’s Corvette with stretches of quizzing colleagues and searching for clues, Kate circles the police and taps every possible source—friend, foe, and family—to find out who’s after Stuart and why. As the race clock counts down to zero hour, Kate must come to terms with her own fears rising from her past and decide who she’s willing to trust. Only then can she identify who’s willing to kill to keep a secret buried.

  1. I’m reading Infinity + One by Amy Harmon.
    (23% on Kindle)
But there it was–hot food in an empty stomach, water on a parched throat, that first glimpse of home just around the bend, or that first bite of something you thought you’d never have the courage to try, only to realize it was the best thing you’d ever tasted. That was what Finn’s kiss was like.

    • Nice one. Is that the description for love? Thanks for sharing Taylor. Hope you had a great vacation and nice to see you back.

    • I look around for something different to clear my palate, so to speak. I love my thrillers and suspense, my paranormal and supernatural, but a change every once in a while is required. Nice to “see” you, Michelle.

  2. I once worked at a NASCAR racetrack, so I’d read this book just to see how the writer portrayed the Daytona race. Women race car drivers are rare, so that would add an extra dimension to the story. It’s definitely a good-old-boys club!
My Teaser is from KEEPING FAITH.

    • That’s cool Sandra. I have been to numerous tracks and worked at some too, but have yet to make it to Daytona. I like racing and was interested in what Tammy Kaehler has to say about it. I’m just getting started on the book, but I will be doing a review on August 14. Nice to “see” you.

  3. I love series mysteries! Have you read the other two? Sounds like you might have jumped right in with this one.

Mine this week isn’t a series mystery. It’s from the old Beauty and the Beast tv series. http://wp.me/pZnGI-9M

    • Yes, I did just jump right in with this one. This was the first I had heard of this series and most of the time it doesn’t matter where you jump in with a series like this. I am liking what I have read so far. ^_^

    • Thanks. I figure this book won’t be for everyone, but it sounded good to me. Thanks for commenting, Kero.

    • I love fast cars and watch a lot of racing. I’m thinking this may be good. Thanks for stopping in Maya.

  4. Wow, that’s a whole lot of actual racing talk. I don’t know if its my kind of story, but I liked your reasons for picking it up! Happy reading! My Teaser.

    • I don’t think it will blow my mind, but I think I’ll have fun reading it. ^_^ Thanks for stopping in Kerry.

  5. I didn’t do a teaser this week. Had a lot of reviews to post. Good one Sherry. Knowing your love of fast cars, this is a great choice.

    • Yeah, sometimes I get too busy too. I’m too early into the book to say anything yet, but I am eager to see what happens. You do know me well and thanks for pointing me towards the book. I will keep you informed. ^_^
