Sworn to Raise (Courtlight, #1)
Sworn to Raise (Courtlight #1)

Amazon / Goodreads

GOODREADS BLURB

Seventeen-year-old Ciardis has grown up in poverty, a cleaner in a small vale on the outskirts of the empire. But beneath her empire’s seemingly idyllic surface lies a hidden secret. Whispers of an inept crown Prince are growing ever louder—intensified by the five year anniversary of the soulbond initiations.

Amidst scandalous whispers, Ciardis finds herself chosen to train for the Companion’s Guild. She leaves her home and sets off on a personal journey to become a Court Companion. A position she’d never thought possible for a lowly servant to obtain, she must prove that she has the skills to attract a Patron.

But she must master those skills quickly. If the legends are true, only Ciardis can harness the power to raise a Prince in an Imperial Court sworn to bring him down.

This sensational series debut melds intricate storylines with remarkable characters and unforgettable magic. Sworn To Raise is ideal for fans of Kristin Cashore, Michelle Sagara, and Maria Snyder.

I added Sworn To Raise by Terah Edun to my TBR on 12.28.12, but I didn’t add it to my Kindle until 1.15.14, so I think it speaks for itself if I still wanted after that long. I love paranormal romance and I think the colors for that cover pop off the page. There are two covers for different formats and I love elements of both. What’s not to like? It has a lot of great ratings and reviews. Have any of you read Terah’s book or series?

I don’t find an ebook for Dead Runninng by Cami Checketts, but I do find an audiobook and paperback.

Dead Running

Audiobook / Goodreads

GOODREADS BLURB

Cassidy Christensen is running. Running from the mercenaries who killed her parents. Running from a scheming redhead intent on making her life miserable. Running from painful memories that sabotage her dreams of happiness. With two very tempting men competing for her attention, she hopes she’ll finally have someone to run to, but can she trust either of them? When secrets from her past threaten her family, Cassidy decides to stop running and fight for her future. A light-hearted suspense with a side of PG-rated romance, Dead Running will have you lacing up your running shoes and impatiently waiting for the sequel. “Dead Running was everything I was hoping it would be, captivating, invigorating, and a page turner that I could not, would not, put down! Cami Checketts writes books that will make you think, and make you feel. She captivated me with The Sister Pact, and doesn’t lose speed with her newest “must read,” Dead Running.” Sheila DeChantal Book Reviewer – Book Journey “Brilliant characterization, edge-of-your-seat suspense and a touch of humor make Dead Running a rare treat…” Wendy Davy Award winning author of Deadly Chase

Goodreads Ratings: 3.81  ·  601 ratings  ·  129 reviews

I added Dead Running by Cami Checketts to my TBR on 12.27.12. Seeing the cover and that this is one of my favorite genres, it was a no brainer picking it up. Hopefully this reminder, to myself, will motivate me to read it. 3.81 is a great rating in my book and, even though I am not a runner, I don’t think it will affect my enjoyment of it.

The Highlander (The Rise of the Aztecs, #1)

Amazon / Goodreads

GOODREADS BLURB

Born in the Highlands, Kuini thought his life was simple. You hunt and you fight, defending your towns against the raids of the Lowlanders and then raiding their lands in turn. His father was the Warriors’ Leader, and he wanted to be just like him.

Yet, Texcoco, the mighty Capital of the Lowlands, seemed incredibly beautiful, sparkling, its pyramids magnificent. A friendship with the Lowlander boy, the First Son of the Texcoco Emperor, seemed harmless in the beginning. They were just boys, and their clandestine meetings were always fun, providing great entertainment.

However, on the day Kuini agrees to finally enter the magnificent city, it would all change. He expected to get into trouble, but he could not foresee the extent of the trouble and, worst of all, he did not expect to uncover hidden secrets concerning his own family.
