Givin' Up The Ghost (Indigo Eady Paranormal Mystery, #1)

Amazon / Goodreads

GOODREADS BLURB

Friend or Foe?

Murder victim Bart Bagley is not content to merely roll over in his grave. He wants his murderer caught and he wants teenage ghost whisperer, Indigo Eady, to help him.

It becomes obvious that Bart’s temper led to more than one disagreement, but is it enough to want him dead? With nothing but a cold trail and a hot list of “friendly” suspects, Indigo and her friends race to find the killer before they become the next victims.

An Indigo Eady Paranormal Mystery

Indigo Eady is not clumsy. At least, that’s what she keeps telling everyone. Can she help that the overactive spirit community of Sabrina Shores causes her psychic abilities to short-circuit? It’s unfortunate that her cute new friend Badger is often on the receiving end of her mishaps. At times, she is positively hazardous to his health. Even so, sparks start to fly in more than one direction…

I added Givin’ Up The Ghost by Gwen Gardner to my TBR on 11.30.12. I love a good ghost story and I’m hoping I have one here. I couldn’t find this exact book, unless you want to pay $999.00 for a paperback. Amazon…I do have an ebook on my Kindle though, so I’m good with that. She does have a lot of other books available, so you may want to check those out.

GOODREADS BLURB

With tongue firmly in cheek and genuine Amish-made stakes at hand, Jael the vampire slayer is ready to kick some serious bloodsucker butt. Seriously.

Her parents, forced to leave their plain and simple upbringing to escape the clutches of the new Bishop – an ancient and powerful vampire with plans to use the Amish Community as his own personal Jamba Juice – raise and train their daughter to continue the fight begun thousands of years earlier by another Jael, and to fulfill the prophecy in the Book of the Shunned.
Soon Jael is turning sweet sixteen and then … all hell will break loose.

Vengeance by the Foot

Amazon / Audiobook / Goodreads

GOODREADS BLURB

Like a modern-day Franz Kafka or young William S. Burroughs, blossoming new author Adam Light presents the twisted tale of an unlucky man suffering the misfortune of losing his foot to diabetes. Amputation is a bad thing even on a good day, but it’s even worse when your severed foot holds a grudge.

Goodreads Ratings: 3.49  ·  77 ratings  ·  45 reviews

I added Vengeance By The Foot by Adam Light to my TBR on 11.18.12. My first reason was probably that awesome cover. The second is the humor with the horror. What do you think?

Nerd World

Amazon / Goodreads

GOODREADS BLURB

Northwest High is a normal school in a normal Illinois town. It has a perfectly typical student body with a standard high school hierarchy. The cool kids are on top, the weird kids are on the bottom, and never the twain shall meet.

Except, that is, for two weeks in autumn, during the school’s annual Trivia Master competition. For those two weeks, everything changes. The nerds inherit the earth. Knowledge itself becomes power. And with all that on the line, the knives come out.

That’s a problem for some people. Paul Liston never intended to fight a war – just play a game with his peers. But as the king of the whiz kids, he’s a target for everyone in contention. His friends want to use him. His rivals want to destroy him. And with his enemies multiplying daily, his only hope might be to sink into the gutter with them.

Goodreads Ratings: 3.67  ·  15 ratings  ·  7 reviews

I added Nerd World by Andrew M. Johnston to my TBR on 11.15.12. I feel we all have a little bit of nerd in us. I am always on the lookout for a change of pace novel and this looks like it will fit the bill.

Hashimoto Blues

Amazon / Goodreads

GOODREADS BLURB

Ellie Fox, quirky pilot, mechanical genius, and drug smuggler, never thinks ahead to the consequences of her actions. When her boyfriend, Max, asks her to “play a Game,” his term for one of his crazy criminal ideas, Ellie agrees and the two of them wind up on the hit list of a Japanese crime lord. On the run for their lives from their disaster in Montreal, the two lovers must find a way to outwit their formidable opponent. Will they live to regret playing such a dangerous Game?

Goodreads Ratings: 4.06  ·  34 ratings  ·  15 reviews

I added Hashimoto Blues by Sarah Dupeyron to my TBR on 11.15.12. Just reading the blurb makes me think that is why I grabbed it as a freebie on 7.21.12. The reviews were fun to read and make me think this will be a fast and fun read with delightful characters that I will want to know more about. The cover doesn’t do much for me and I think the author would do better with the book by creating a new one. I’m just saying…

The Killer

Amazon / Goodreads

GOODREADS BLURB

To survive the violent streets of Belfast in the 1970s, young Darren McCann learns to fight. The IRA are interested in recruiting him but, though he is a Catholic, he refuses to take sides until a family tragedy allies him with “the cause”.

His specialist training turns him into an efficient sniper and covert operative. One brutal interrogation earns Darren the reputation as “The Butcher of Belfast” and pairs him with his infamous knife, The Killer. After a high profile assassination, he takes refuge in Spain where he works with ETA terrorists and takes part in an audacious bank raid.

He returns to Ireland to continue the fight, but the seeds of doubt are planted in his mind by a British MI6 officer with shocking information and plans to turn him into a double-agent.

“This fast-paced chronicle of death and double-cross kept me glued to my seat from first page till last…” Clifford Thurlow, co-author of Making A Killing.

Goodreads Ratings: 3.79  · 192 ratings  ·  20 reviews

I added The Killing by Jack Elgos to my TBR on 11.9.12. Even thought it is a series, I usually try to read any book I own anyway. Sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn’t but I think this will be a good one either way.
