A Zombie Christmas 2Amazon  /  Goodreads

MY REVIEW

It’s a year later and the zombie apocalypse is worse than ever. Will it never end? Do the zombies die out on their own, slowly disintegrating into dust?

Mike Beem is back and he’s shooting, stabbing, decapitating the broken and decomposing zombies to save Donnie and his family. He puts everything on the line to add more survivors to his ‘family’.

The star on top of Mike’s Christmas tree is like a beacon of hope to those lost, seeking shelter from the zombies.

It is Christmas Eve, and come hell or high water, there will be a Christmas.

Mike’s Angels, Double and Trouble, have his back.

Horror, suspense, love and hope abound in this gruesome yet heartwarming story in the brutal world of the zombie apocalypse.

Animated Animals. Pictures, Images and Photos  4 Stars

GOODREADS BLURB:  A boy lost. A family desperate. It’s Christmas in a Zombie Apocalypse and Mike Beem is once again aiming for another Holiday miracle. His goal this year isn’t toys for the kids in the neighborhood. His goal this time is trying to save one small life so another family doesn’t have to suffer the way he suffered. Can Mike save Christmas once again?

Moondance

by Linda K. Hopkins

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE: Paranormal Romance
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB

Are some obstacles too difficult for love to overcome?

For years, Melissa Hewitt has dreamed of being hunted by a panther, a huge, black creature that pursues her relentlessly. But panthers do not exist in real life – not in Canada, anyway. And it is in the Canadian Rockies that Melissa escapes the stresses of her work – a job that come with a handsome but unfriendly boss who exudes both danger and allure. There is something about Leander Garrett, however, that draws Melissa, making him almost impossible to ignore; that, and the fact that once they had been friends.

As winter turns into spring, Leander’s chilly demeanor begins to thaw, but danger prowls through the mountains, and Lee has a secret that lurks beneath his elegant clothes and rippling physique. Something that compels him to reject what he desires the most.

Can he learn to see the good in himself and finally allow his heart to love, and be loved in return?

A captivating paranormal romance, Moondance will keep you enthralled to the very last page.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
EXCERPT
Darkness hung over the ground like a pall as Melissa stumbled blindly through the forest, lurching between shadowy trunks and swerving around bushes that seemed to materialize out of nowhere. Barbed branches clawed her face and arms, leaving angry welts in their wake. Protruding roots, intent on hindering her escape, sent her to her knees, leaving them scratched and bleeding. She gasped for breath as the blood pounded furiously in her ears while her chest burned with each breath. Sweat dripped down her forehead, covering her brow. Fear had slickened her palms, and her legs trembled as she careened between the trees. Behind her, her pursuer flew with seeming effortlessness over the ground, its enormous paws making no sound as it closed the gap between them. From the corner of her eye she saw the huge cat drawing alongside her, its bright green eyes shining eerily in the dark. Her foot caught the rough end of a stump, and she flung out her hands as she tumbled to the ground. The panther leaped toward her as her screams tore through the air.
Melissa jolted upright in her bed, her eyes wide as she searched her room in terror for the beast. Rigid fingers gripped the sheet, straining the fabric until it was close to ripping. Her heart hammered in her chest, the memory of reaching claws and hot breath on her neck still too close to dismiss. She loosened her hold on the sheet one aching finger at a time until it fell from her grip.
Wedding Horror – Severing Sidney by Jason Werebeloff Review @JasonWerbeloff
New Release – Severing Sidney by Jason Werebeloff.
Severing Sidney is not my first book by Jason Werebeloff, nor will it be my last.
If you are into Science Fiction, you will want this author on your reading list.
At the moment Severing Sidney is free, so why not give it a try?
MY REVIEW
 Jason Werebeloff writes some wicked horror, science fiction stories and I am happy to share the latest…about a marriage in the Bubble. But, it’s not like any marriage you’ve ever heard of before and the tools Gepetto brings to the wedding are scalpels, staplers, anesthetics, and more.
He’s not happy about the marriage, but his daughter is very happy. Should he intervene? Is it true that Father Knows Best?
The events take place in the future. Jason weaves good and bad elements in his world of the future making me think I don’t want to live there, but as I read on…well, maybe it’s not so bad.
His descriptions are gruesome and humorous.
I think it’s hard to create suspense in a short story, but Jason Werebeloff manages to do just that. I know something is coming…And I am eating up the pages to find out what.
Uh oh…I see a problem. And boy was I in for a surprise.
How creative and thought provoking the premise. The possibilities…
What an ending! Wonderful job, Jason.
Animated Animals. Pictures, Images and Photos 4 Stars
GOODREADS BLURB
In the Bubble, marriage is the literal merging of two bodies. So when Geppetto receives an invitation to his daughter’s wedding, he’s devastated.
He must find a way to stop the ceremony, or lose her forever. And if the wedding goes ahead … He doesn’t want to think about that, but Geppetto has his scalpel on hand. Just in case.
Slice into SEVERING SIDNEY, the latest sci-fi horror from the Bubble.
Giveaway – The Devil Orders Takeout by Bill A Brier @billbrier @GoddessFish
THE DEVIL ORDERS TAKEOUT by Bill A. Brier
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

GENRE: Mystery/Thriller

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
A tax attorney with integrity…a powerful mobster determined to bend his will…
Grayson Bolt isn’t about to compromise his integrity to help a notorious crime boss escape the cross-hairs of the IRS. But there’s a steep price to pay for defying The Man–Grayson’s beloved wife and older son.
There’s only one way for Grayson to prevent his younger son, Jim, an innocent golf prodigy, from also being taken out: play a dangerous game of cat and mouse. And what will Jim be forced to do when the woman he loves gets ensnarled in a web of betrayal and deceit?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

EXCERPT:

“I’m afraid you’re going to get it hard, Mr. Bolt.” Costanzo had that fatherly tone of this will hurt me more than you. “Did you ever stop to think that there’s only one way of being dead, but many ways of dying?”

Grayson felt something cold touch his spine, all the way down. “I don’t follow.”

“Take your man Stockard. He killed two of your beloved family members, wife and eldest son. Isn’t that right?”

A strangling tightness gripped Grayson’s throat. “That— that’s right.”

“Wouldn’t you say a part of you died too?”

“What’s your point?” Grayson’s voice erupted in suppressed panic.

“You don’t have to die to feel dead. I’m going to kill your other son. That’ll be your punishment.”

The blood drained from Grayson’s face. Just like that. Most people held the basic principle that no man should be punished for the deed of another. Costanzo was not one of them. Grayson would be cut right to the bone, and his son would be the sharpest knife Costanzo could use. Costanzo had spelled out the thought in invisible brushstrokes. It was there and Grayson had tried not to see it.

AUTHOR Bio and Links:

Bill grew up in California and went to Hollywood High School, then served in the Air Force as a combat cameraman.

After hiring on at Disney Studios as a film loader, he soon advanced and moved on to other film studios.

He earned a master’s degree in psychology. A big help when working with Trumpish Hollywood producers. You’re fired!

During his more than twenty-five years in the movie business as a cameraman, film editor, and general manager, Bill worked on everything from the hilarious, The Love Bug, to the creepy, The Exorcist, to the far out, Star Trek and Battle Star Galactica.

Eight years ago, Bill switched from reading scripts to writing thriller/mysteries and driving racecars. After completing three award-winning novels, he signed with Black Opal Books. His first novel, The Devil Orders Takeout, is about a devoted father and husband who makes a deal with a real-life devil to protect his golf-prodigy son after his wife and older son are killed in a mysterious accident — and pays hell for it.

Bill’s second mystery, The Killer Who Hated Soup, is Book One in the 1950s The Killer Who series, and it launches this Summer. The Internet? Never heard of it. Smart phones? Who you kiddin’?

Energetic and eager to make his mark on what Time magazine called the next great boom town, Bucky Ontario leaves his daddy and little sister in Louisiana and rides a bus to Defiance, Oklahoma, a town not particularly adverse to murders, just the embarrassment of them when committed by high officials.

Book Two, The Killer who Wasn’t There, will be on bookshelves this fall.

Bill writes every day and golfs infrequently (that damn right knee!). His five children and eight grandchildren keep him busy going to birthday parties, and he never misses a one!

The Brier Patch is Bill’s wildly entertaining blog about his shameless early days in Hollywood. It’s on his website, billbrier.com, along with a contest linked to The Devil Orders Takeout, which will award the grand prizewinner $1,000.

Amazon  Goodreads

My 56

Stone said goodbye and hung up. His stomach was growing and he hated missing this lunch.

( page 56, in hardcover,1st edition, published in 1999)

Book Beginnings

The pain lay buried somewhere in the depths of Stone Barrington’s upper body; a cross between a slipped disc and a coronary, it seemed. It had begun after a phone conversation early in the previous winter. The call,from Arrington Carter, had ended everything. Now she was the wife of another man, living in his house, rearing his son. He would never see her again, except in her husband’s company, and he would never think of her again without feeling the pain.

GOODREADS BLURB:  Someone is Brutally killing the women in Stone Barrington’s life — and he doesn’t know why. His date, his secretary, and his neighbor are all murdered within 24 hours of one another. When the D.A. comes sniffing at his door, Stone, the New York lawyer-turned-investigator, enlists the help of his best friend, Dino, the N.Y.P.D. lieutenant, to clear his good name. When Dino gets involved, the cast of characters, shady and otherwise, grows as Dino’s Mafioso-type father-in-law, his beautiful daughter Dolce, and even the doorman get into the act. The plot twists from the front table at Elaine’s to the dark alleys where Armani-clad mobsters dwell, and Stone can only pray that his worst fears won’t be realized as he tries to save the lives of the women he cares about.

“London in danger of suffocation! The Kingston and Richmond defences forced! Fearful massacres in the Thames Valley!”

( page 56, in hardcover,1st edition, published in 1978)

Book Beginnings

From War of the Worlds

No one would have believed in the last years of the nineteenth century that human affairs were being watched keenly and closely by intelligences greater than man’s and yet as mortal as his own; that as men busied themselves about their affairs they were scrutinised and studied perhaps almost as closely as a man with a microscope might scrutinise the transient creatures that swarm and multiply in a drop of water.

GOODREADS BLURB:  You can now read H.G. Wells’ most famous science fiction exactly as it appeared in illustrated popular magazines at the turn of the century.

Presented here in their entirety – with all the original illustrations by leading artists of the day – are novels such as The War of the Worlds, The First Men in the Moon, and When the Sleeper Wakes; nearly two dozen short stories, including the well known The Country of the Blind, The Empire of the Ants, The Valley of the Spiders, and The Man Who Could Work Miracles; and as a bonus, the five unusual Stories of the Stone Age (science fiction not of the future but of the past).

The Collector’s Book of Science Fiction by H.G. Wells makes it possible to recapture the authentic flavor of the these thrilling stories – some not seen even by collectors for decades.

(Page 56 in hardcover,1st edition, published in 2003)

Book Beginnings

She saw a young man in a loose black sweater and black trousers come toward her down the street. His dark hair was blowing, and his face seemed to be illuminated by a smile. It was always nice to see someone smiling on the street, she thought – a grace note. When he was nearly abreast of her, she saw that he was grimacing, not smiling, and that his eyes were wet. This was on that day in New York when the sky is gray and the air is gray and cold and people are wearing jackets and sweaters for the first time. she turned around and watched him go past her, wondering what had happened to him. Some sort of strange illumination still clung to the young man, and the woman noticed several other people staring at him.
