Doo Dah Day Pictorial #doodahday #animals #photographs

.

I am experimenting with Nextgen Gallery. I have had it for a long time, just never really used it. Now is the time, seeing Mr Wonderful is scanning images from our photo albums before they fade too badly. Unfortunately, the negatives have become damaged due to all the humidity down here and it is even more important to save them now.

Mobile, Alabama holds a Doo Dah Parade every spring and these are from 1997. I can tell this was still in the film days, because I had to limit how many photographs I took due to cost. I still like film the best, but I can click away with digital and that is an advantage I revel in. There are ups and downs to everything.

This is a slide show, but you can click on the individual photograph to see it better, then scroll through them using the buttons below the photograph.

I hope you enjoy.

  1. There are lots of photos I took on film before I went digital-Cape Town, Dallas, Tenerife, London, Brighton, Canterbury and many more. I don’t have a scanner so I’m thinking about photographing the photographs to put them into blog posts or something. Dogs are always good for cheering up your mood aren’t they!

    • yes. i am a dog person and feel now is the time to share some cheer. a photo of a photo is better than losing all the great pics. maybe there will be cheap scanners….

    • wasn’t that sweet? and in the car in the first pic is Morris the cat…from the commercials. 🙂 kids and critters can definitely put a smile on my face

    • me too. it made me be more precise and figure out exactly what i needed to do to get the result i wanted. digital also seems to have a lag time, even with some of the finer cameras and nighttime shots were easier with film

    • I meant to add to that a problem I am having is some photos that I have in picture frames have actually melded to the glass and when I try to get them out of the frame it will peel off some of the photo on the glass so I just leave them in the frame. Any idea how to fix this?

      • bummer. i have had a few of those. if you google how do i get a photo off glass that it’s stuck to a couple of solutions immediately pop up. i haven’t tried any of them…yet. i have done like you, left them in the frame

  2. I went on a big scanning binge at one point (maybe 10 years ago), because all the pictures of my daughter prior to age 9 are physical photos, but then I stopped, because I am lazy. It’s a good idea to have the digital back up though.

    • i have been doing it on and off, but we needed a new office computer and i hadn’t got back to it. mr wonderful is working from home and while he works, he scans. takes the pressure off of me. 🙂

    • cool. i always enjoyed sharing. isn’t that what photos are about? hope you and cole are doing well. 🙂
