The mind blowing cover for Evil Stalks the Night by Kathryn Meyer Griffith was done by Dawn Dominque. I have read a lot of her books and she never ceases to amaze me with the quality of her writing and her vivid imagination that brings her stories and characters to life.

What do you think of this beauty?

MY REVIEW

Ahhhh, summer vacation. The memories. BUT…she felt like she was being watched.

DON’T GO IN THE WOODS! How many times must we be told. LOL

Her terror starts early. What do you see in the woods? Shadows? Flickers of life? Sarah knows what she see all those years ago, though no one believed her. She believes she is in this alone.

I love the feeling of dread that hangs on every word, every sentence, every page. I love that Sarah studies everything about the supernatural that she can get her hands on, preparing for what is to come. She believes in her God and loved her Catholic school days. She walks in both worlds. She is older than her years, strong, determined to keep those she loves safe.

Life had been hard for her, so much pain and loss. She has her son and her brother, Jimmy. Everyone else is gone. She had left, but it called her home and it was time to finish it. They are trapped and I can feel her, gathering herself, preparing to fight to the death. The big question, who will survive. I will be worrying, not just about the evil, but Kathryn Meyer Griffith too. She isn’t afraid to kill off her characters.

At times, the fun dialogue made me forget the danger. That is how good Kathryn Meyer Griffith’s writing is to me. I look at the story as an adventure and I am just along for the ride, and a wild ride it is.

Kathryn Meyer Griffith has the ability to lull me into a sense of complacency even when I know evil is to come. Life goes on in a normal fashion…until, wham, bam…I don’t know how many times I thought I knew what was going to happen or that the end was near, only to be given more, another terror, another event of devastating proportions.

Shades of her true life share some of the pages, but I hope she doesn’t walk the woods at night looking for evil anywhere but in her mind! LOL

Wowed. Amazed. And she broke my heart.

  1. I love this cover and I mentioned to Laura, you guys introduced me to this author several years back when we all read Witches together. It also paved the way for all the buddy reads Stormi and I do each month. I’m excited to check out more of this author’s work.

  2. Thanks Sherry, as always, for covering my Evil Stalks the Night…which, by the way, was my FIRST ever published paperback novel (Leisure paperbacks) WAY BACK IN 1984! AND YES…it has a LOT of my childhood and young adulthood in it…my 1978 bitter divorce and how I survived it with my real son, James. In 2015 my sweet musician brother, Jim, passed away- he was in many ways the Jim in this book. He is in many of my novels in one form or another. I got ESTN’s rights back in 2014 and republished it along with all my 28 novels and 12 short stories. In fact, someone is writing a movie script of it right now. Fingers crossed. I’m working on book #29…the sixth Spookie Town Murder Mystery. Yes, I’ve been writing now for over 48 years; and published since 1984. I started out as a horror author but have morphed into a plain old storyteller who writes horror, romance, time travel romances, thrillers and cozy murder mysteries. 3. Great cover! Sure, I’d go in the woods. The trick is to become part of the environment for as long as your stay lasts. Sharpen your senses, and don’t fear what you can’t see. 🙂

  4. I love going in the woods. I love riding my horse in the woods and going by myself and giving myself time to think. The thing with the woods is to learn from your surrounding and to adapt to weather trees and the plants. I always make an adventure out of my time out in them. There is always something new to see and to experience. The smells, the sounds and the beauty is only part of the experience, I always good to be scared of the unknown. If you know all that there is there than you are not truly experience nature. Be scared, be in awe, be in awe of all that is nature.

  5. Wow! Great review! Sounds like the perfect scare-your-pants-off read! That said, heck yes, I would go into the woods…any time of day or night. Used to have 40 wooded acres with coyotes all around, never got really scared until I saw the bear…

    Thanks for a great post!

  6. thanks dii. just a walk in the park for you huh? i love the woods and all the critters, but i have never run into a bear.

  7. would i go in yes i love the woods and then i talk to the dead and go to the grave yard a lot and see if they want to say any thing to me i go to old house and do the same

  8. Now that I have seen the cover and know it’s a horror story, I’m now afraid to go into the woods all by myself. Hehe love to get a chance to read and review.

  9. I hope this is where we answer the question. Not really sure it just asked it anyways live by the woods but not always safe to go in.
