The Wolf's Moon by Patrick Jones Amazon Link  In “The Wolf’s Moon” (ISBN 146636016X), author Patrick Jones creates a spellbinding tale of an ancient animal that haunts the foothill towns of Missouri’s Ozark Mountains. An unknown group of scientists has genetically engineered a Dire Wolf into the present day. Allegedly extinct, the ferocious beast preys upon the innocent people of Maple Hills.

To hunt and kill the beast, the town folk will have to rely on the tracking feats of Mark Lansdowne. He is a reluctant hero, still mourning the loss of his wife to illness. Relying on his rescue dogs and indefatigable hunting skills, Mark will set out on foot in search of the mysterious beast. Yet the hunter’s personal history and romantic entanglements will come back to haunt him during his search for the vicious animal.

Accompanying him on the hunt is his pal Warren Skruggs, who knew Mark when he was known as Michael Linden, a chapter of his history that he prefer be kept to the past. Adding to the intrigue are two beautiful, intelligent women who aid the hunter in his quest. Their looks and smarts would make the Bond Girls envious but Mark is still a grieving widower, unsure of how to move forward.

With its mixture of high-stakes hunting and personal and romantic intrigue, “The Wolf’s Moon” is a page-turner that will keep the reader captivated with its unexpected story twists. The thriller suspense novel is a real story grounded in the life and folkways of the Ozark Mountains not just another unbelievable werewolf story grafted onto the romance of the South.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Patrick Jones

Pat Jones was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. His special interests include the science of paleoanthropology and archaeology.

Woodworking is one of his favorite hobbies, with special emphasis on the unique grains and textures of various species of trees. He and his wife, Sandy, thrive on designing and creating a flower garden of perennials, second to none! Constantly evolving, the garden began as a way that he could surprise his wife on her birthday. The rest is history! The garden now spans one fourth of an acre!

When their children graduated from school, the couple relocated to rural Missouri where they now reside with their four dogs. The love of the area, in combination with the uniqueness of the people, provided the impedance for “The Wolf’s Moon”.

The sequel to “The Wolf’s Moon” is already in the works and proves to be yet another suspenseful page-turner! Pat believes that there is a story in everything. Everybody that he meets has their own special story; one simply has to take the time to listen. The story then writes itself.

  1. It’s funny. I didn’t work yesterday and was loading all links, pics, and such for this one on a post for my review. Then you email me about this!
I have my notes loaded, just need to sit down and do the review now!

    • Esp or something. Isn’t it funny how that works out sometimes? Kind of goes with a lot of the books I’ve been reading. lol

  2. Between 2001-2006, I worked as a docent in Wichita, Ks at ‘The Museum of World Treasures’ & loved it! As the author stated above, I’ve always been interested in paleoanthropology & archaeology since I was a kid! Imagine my excitement when I was lucky enough to go out with the professionals and play amateur archeaologist as we went on digs in different locations in KS. Mostly we found mammoth tusks, some bones & nice molars (now on display at the museum!). In Western Ks, I found a really nice Xiphactinus tooth (huge ancient fish, sharp pointy teeth, could swallow anyone in one gulp!) embedded at the top of a chalk cliff…I still have it! Playing amateur archeaologist is not as easy as one might think…102 degree days, no shade, picking through the dirt with dental tools and a small paintbrush…and I’d do it all again in a heartbeat…:> More to the point…also on display at the ‘Museum of World Treasures’ is a complete, real Dire Wolf skeleton! Trust me…NO ONE would want to meet up with one of those anytime or anywhere…unless it was on display at a museum…Yikes!!!

Thanks Sherry for having Patrick Jones as a guest and thank you Patrick Jones for writing this book and for all of us to be able to read it…and reading it for free is even better…:> After I do download it & read it, I’ll post a review on Goodreads, Amazon, etc.

Cheers all and thanks for putting up with my ramblings. I’m thrilled to be able to read this book!

    • No worries about the typos. I do the same sometimes. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate you sharing. How fascinating that must have been. How ironic, too, that there is actually a real, complete Dire Wolf skeleton!!!!! How cool that you have some treasures to go with the wonderful memories. I can only imagine how fun it must have been, even with the heat and probably a lot of muscle aches. I hope you enjoy the book as much as I did. I am looking for more from him. The Linden Chronicles is going to be a series and I am really curious how he is going to top this. Thanks for stopping by and commenting. I hope you will come back and check out what else I can find that might interest you. Have a great weekend.

      • Just picked up my copy of The Wolf’s Moon…and it’s only about 3:20am….so think I’ll go to bed now!!!

Thank you Patrick and Sherry for an interesting and entertaining interview and thanks so very much for generously providing your ebook for free! I look forward to reading it…I must since I stayed up this late (or early…: ) to download my copy!

        Thanks and goodnight…Cecilia

      • I believe you will find it was well worth it. Good thing you didn’t start to read it. You might not have made it to bed until daylight, if then. lol Happy reading.

  3. I apologize for any & all typos in my comment above! I usually check spelling but was in a hurry…please forgive my misspellings…drives me nuts when I do that…ish!
