~~~This is the last book on this shelf.
I had six Stephen Coonts books, so I put them in the random number generator and Cuba popped up. So…let’s check it out.
MY FRIDAY 56
Several blocks away Chance stopped to buy bread. The man who sold him the bread gave him a peso in change.
One peso meant yes, two meant no.
(page 56 in hardcover)
MY BOOK BEGINNINGS
His hair was white, close-cropped, and his skin deeply tanned. He wore only sandals, shorts, and a paper-thin rag of a shirt with three missing buttons that flapped loosely on his spare, bony frame. A piece of twine around his waist held up his shorts, which were also several sizes too large. His dark eyes were restless and bright behind his steel-framed glasses, which rested on a large, fleshy nose.
GOODREADS BLURB
Admiral Jake Grafton is overseeing a shipment of nerve gas being transferred from a top-secret U.S. stockpile at Guantanamo Bay. But a power struggle inside Cuba — as Castro lies dying — has ignited an explosive plot, and a horrific new weapon is turned on the U.S. Only Jake on an aircraft carrier off the coast of Cuba knows the impending danger. Only Jake can save America from a disaster that would make the Bay of Pigs look like child’s play.
Thanks for visiting fundinmental!
Sounds like some intrigue going on. I’ve read this author before. Good choice:)
I love Coonts.. He’s right up there with Clancy, just not so many details.
Sounds interesting, not read this author.
Friday Memes
I have a lot of his books. I love his work.
This sounds like a good thriller. I thought he wrote horror. I’ll have to check this one out. I am spotlighting Blood Cross by Faith Hunter this week. Look for my review tomorrow. Happy reading!
There are two authors with names that sound the same – Coonts and Koontz. I love them both and have a lot of their books. Coonts is a thriller writer and Koontz is a horror writer. Thanks for dropping by and see you in a sec. 🙂
I’ve been wanting to read him and I think I have a few of his books. I like the excerpts. I’ll have to look for this one!
What else was he buying besides bread if buddy gave him an answer?!
Happy weekend!
I’ve never read anything by this author, but he’s always popular at the library… I may have to look into his books. 🙂
