I went to the beach and found this unusual sight.
After five days without power in the Gulf of Mexico, the more than 4,200 people aboard the Carnival Triumph returned home to the U.S., with many of them telling their horror stories for the first time.
Passengers began to disembark the damaged ship around 10:15 p.m. CT Thursday in Mobile, Ala. The last passenger disembarked the ship at 1 a.m. local time, according to Carnival’s Twitter handle.
Passenger Brandi Dorsett was thankful to be home, especially for her mother, who was with her on the ship. Dorsett said she wasn’t pleased with the doctor on staff.
“My mother is a diabetic, and they would not even come to the room because she cannot walk the stairs to help her with insulin. She hasn’t had insulin in three days,” Dorsett said.
The Carnival Triumph departed Galveston, Texas, last Thursday and lost power Sunday after a fire in the engine room disabled the vessel’s propulsion system and knocked out most of its power.

Cruise from hell.
You got that right. Have you ever been on a cruise? I have been on numerous ones. People don’t realize it is like a hotel on the water. They don’t take responsibility for much, you are on your own. I love them, but I won’t be doing Carnival again. The cool thing is, they go to several places. We would eat breakfast, leave for the day and come back in time for dinner. Sometimes we would rent mopeds. We swam with the Dolphins is Jamaica, that was cool. I love the Caribbean!!!! lol
I’ve never been on a cruise, but I would like to go on one, but only the type you mention above, where you get to leave the ship for the day and explore.
They can be a lot of fun and you can visit two, three, sometimes more places. Whether they are islands, cities, countries….We would make an itinerary every night and go over it in the morning. we would be up before sunrise so we could photograph it, wander all day and end up wherever we wanted to photograph sunset on the way back to the ship for dinner. Sometimes it seemed a lot like work, trying to accomplish all our stops on our tour. LOL
I was going to go to the pier and watch it come in but the news showed a huge crowd. Would have had to walk a long ways. It would have been a great view though. You looked good Sherry. Thought it was funny you were all bundled up and Funman was in short sleeves and shorts!
Funman called me from work and I made sure all cameras were charged. He came home early and we raced to Fort Morgan. There were people, but not a huge crowd. When I saw the pic of me bundled up, I couldn’t help but laugh myself. I had left my windbreaker in the car or I would have had that on too. You know me, I get cold easy. But the breeze off the water was a little chilly. You know Funman, sockless and shorts year round. LOL
That whole story is bananas. What’s even more bananas, though? The way CNN and other news outlets have gone ape over the saturation coverage. Big story, I know, but I’m sure there were some other newsworthy things going on this past week… right? 🙂

I agree with you about the media. They do everything they can to inflate (?) the story. They even go so far as to make things up. I agree there were more important stories, but that’s the news people for ya. The weather people are the same way. Every time a tropical storm happens anywhere near the Gulf Coast, they go crazy trying to create something, that most of the time isn’t there. LOL Thanks for commenting.
