Lost Art, Nazis & More – Not In Time by Shawna Seed Review & Giveaway

After reading Shawna Seeds debut novel, Identity, MY 5 STAR REVIEW for Identity, I have been eagerly anticipating another story from her.

Not In Time (Lost Art Investigations) was born.

Not In Time is about more than lost art. We may do a little time traveling and falling in love while we are investigating. Join me and we will find out together.

Not In Time was released at a great time. Monuments Men, the movie about art stolen by the Nazis, is now out. It’s almost like Shawna Seed has a touch of the clairvoyant about her, don’t you think? Read Not In Time is about one family’s search for their stolen art.

My Review for Not In time by Shawna Seed.

.
He felt something special, something magical, when he touched her.
.
They were both after the same thing – the drawing that was stolen by the Nazis in Paris.
.

As soon as he entered the Gallery I knew it. He knows her and I am wondering if he is up to no good. Shawna Seed keeps me guessing as I travel through time trying to avoid the pitfalls that are awaiting Genevieve and Julien.

Not In Time starts out as a normal mystery, find the stolen drawing. But when Genevieve and Julien come in contact, there is a paranormal element that emerges. I love the combination. I am eager to begin my journey through time, because Genevieve’s flashbacks would prove to be so much more than flashbacks.

Shawna took the suspense to a very high level and kept it there. I was waiting for something to happen. I knew something was coming.  Where would it come from?

So much of the world feels temporary, but a really great piece of art is timeless.

Genevieve had lost her job at the museum. With a push from her best friend, D, Genevieve find herself on an adventure that starts in Vegas and travels to places she could never have foreseen. They were opposites, Genevieve sensible and reserved, while D was adventurous and outgoing. I felt a kinship with D and think we could all use a best friend like her. I would love to learn her story. Could there me a book there for her, Shawna?

Genevieve is hired to find a lost drawing and she would be working with Julien. His family owned the drawing before it was lost in Paris during the war. She can’t help but notice Julien’s smile and her attraction to him continues to grow. I knew Genevieve was paranoid when it came to relationships and mistrusted men, so, it was no surprise to me that she doubted him. But, I doubted him too.

There are things going on that neither Genevieve or Julien foresee. Forces were determined to stop them and danger lurked.

I am not a person that likes to know, for sure, the ending of a book. I do not skip ahead,, but it was so very tempting. No, just a peak, no, NO! I waited until I got there through reading, I did not peek. And it will be worth it for you to wait too.

Shawna Seed’s writing is fluid and easy to read. Her stories have depth of plot and characters. She draws you in and keeps you there. You will not want to quit until the last page is read.

    • Me too. I want to have a lot of action, so a couple or three plot elements going at the same time will keep my attention. It was worth the wait, not peeking. ^_^

  2. I loved Identity, so I’m sure I’ll love this one as well. I love her writing style.
If I could go back in time, I’d want to go–temporarily–to about twenty years ago, and see some of the people I’ve lost over the years. Wouldn’t that be amazing?

    • Glad to hear you loved Identity and her writing style. Me too. ^_^ I have never went to a high school reunion and have often been curious where everyone is today – 40+ years later, but not curious enough to go back there. LOL I’m not sure myself where I would go back to, but am curious about everyone else. ^_^

  3. Sherry, thanks for another great review! I’m especially glad you liked Genevieve’s friend D, she-whose-real-name-shall-not-be-revealed. (At least not in this installment.)

You asked what I’m working on next. I’m revising a manuscript called Boys I Have Dated. It’s a novel, not a memoir — had to reassure my nervous mom on that point the other day.

And you will be seeing Genevieve McKenna again. A first draft of Lost Art Investigations #2 is already written. (Still working on a title.)

Thanks to everyone who has read my books or is even *thinking* about reading my books. If you’re a Goodreads member, please consider shelving and rating them. Please think about reviewing them on Amazon, too. Your review can be as short as a sentence or two.

Reader support makes all the difference!

  4. YAY. I’m glad to hear there will be more of D and of course Genevieve. Glad to hear you put your mom’s mind to rest. It has me curious, could be fun. Thanks so much for stopping in and sharing all your great upcoming news. Let me know if I can do anything to help promote. Have a great night.

  5. So proud of you. You didn’t peek! I had that same problem with I Kissed a Dog. I wanted to cheat so bad, but I didn’t and I’m glad now.

Sounds like you really connected with this one Sherry. Another excellent review.

  6. Forgot to answer your question.
Anywhere or time I want? Hmm. I’d like to go back as an observer and see Vlad Dracul, the man behind the Dracula legend. It would be fascinating. Probably dangerous too as he is Vlad the Impaler! Yikes.
