MY REVIEW
Okay. I get it. I know I am late to the party, and now I see why everyone is raving about A Game of Thrones. I was confused in the beginning, being fed so much information, but it didn’t take me long to become invested in the characters, fearing for their lives, and wondering who will live and who will die before the first books ends. The more I read, the better it gets. Betrayal is everywhere and I don’t know who to trust either. Revenge runs deep and the punishments are brutal, savage, and bloody. I have chosen those who I think will be special and I look forward to finding out if I am right.
And that ending…Oh man, oh man, oh man…I got A Game of Thrones from my library, and I can hardly wait to get the second book!
Some of my favorite quotes:
“The common people pray for rain, healthy children, and a summer that never ends,” Ser Jorah told her. “It”s no matter to them if the high lord play their Game of Thrones, so long as they are left in peace.”
He gave a shrug, “They never are.”
“When you play the Game of Thrones, you win or die.”
“…why is it always the innocents who suffer the most, when you high lords play your Game of Thrones?”
“In life, the monsters win…”

GOODREADS BLURB
Here is the first volume in George R. R. Martin’s magnificent cycle of novels that includes A Clash of Kings and A Storm of Swords. As a whole, this series comprises a genuine masterpiece of modern fantasy, bringing together the best the genre has to offer. Magic, mystery, intrigue, romance, and adventure fill these pages and transport us to a world unlike any we have ever experienced. Already hailed as a classic, George R. R. Martin’s stunning series is destined to stand as one of the great achievements of imaginative fiction.
A GAME OF THRONES
Long ago, in a time forgotten, a preternatural event threw the seasons out of balance. In a land where summers can last decades and winters a lifetime, trouble is brewing. The cold is returning, and in the frozen wastes to the north of Winterfell, sinister and supernatural forces are massing beyond the kingdom’s protective Wall. At the center of the conflict lie the Starks of Winterfell, a family as harsh and unyielding as the land they were born to. Sweeping from a land of brutal cold to a distant summertime kingdom of epicurean plenty, here is a tale of lords and ladies, soldiers and sorcerers, assassins and bastards, who come together in a time of grim omens.
Here an enigmatic band of warriors bear swords of no human metal; a tribe of fierce wildlings carry men off into madness; a cruel young dragon prince barters his sister to win back his throne; and a determined woman undertakes the most treacherous of journeys. Amid plots and counterplots, tragedy and betrayal, victory and terror, the fate of the Starks, their allies, and their enemies hangs perilously in the balance, as each endeavors to win that deadliest of conflicts: the game of thrones.

I only started reading the series last year but I’ve loved it! I just hope we get the ending published…
I have a while before I have to worry about that. Hopefully it will be available by the time I get there. 🙂
That might be optomistic on our parts!
Fingers are crossed. 🙂
Yay! Glad you loved it! Great review, Sherry. 🙂
I am really looking forward to the next one. Thanks, Lauren.
Oh boy. you’re in the game now! LOL
FOR SURE!
It does get better as it goes, and I think that applies to the books too! They just get more and more involved and I got afraid for my favorite characters!
I know what you mean about being afraid for your favorite characters. I can hardly wait to start the next one, but travel and getting behind on blogging, and review books makes the next GOT book on hold.
Will watch GOT very soon 😉
And… you’re now on a major journey! Have you watched the TV series, yet?
No, but I think I’m going to have to make it a priority. lol
I haven’t watched any of it, but after reading the first book, I can see it in my future. Hope you enjoy it.
