Angelfall by Susan Ee is one heavenly story I won from Toi Thomas.
MY REVIEW
I am so glad I won this book because I loved it and I probably never would have found it on my own. The angels brought death, destruction and the apocalypse. Sixteen year old Penryn will team up with Raffe, an angel warrior caught up in angel politics. They will save each other again and again, as they struggle to find a way through the new world they live in. Forbidden love, complex characters and world building full of desperation and danger make me want to now who will be left standing. I was immediately drawn into this dark and desperate world of angel against angel, angel against human, human against angel and human against human, as Penryn and Raffe try to change what’s left of the world they live in.

GOODREADS BLURB
It’s been six weeks since angels of the apocalypse descended to demolish the modern world. Street gangs rule the day while fear and superstition rule the night. When warrior angels fly away with a helpless little girl, her seventeen-year-old sister Penryn will do anything to get her back.
Anything, including making a deal with an enemy angel.
Raffe is a warrior who lies broken and wingless on the street. After eons of fighting his own battles, he finds himself being rescued from a desperate situation by a half-starved teenage girl.
Traveling through a dark and twisted Northern California, they have only each other to rely on for survival. Together, they journey toward the angels’ stronghold in San Francisco where she’ll risk everything to rescue her sister and he’ll put himself at the mercy of his greatest enemies for the chance to be made whole again.
I have to admit that I wasn’t a fan of this book…I didn’t like the characters much. To be fair to it though, I’m not a huge fan of books with angels for some reason!
Different strokes for different folks. I appreciate you stopping in and commenting. I love books about angels. I think because I have watched a lot of Supernatural and that makes it easier to go with the story.
I’ve been wanting to try this author. Glad you enjoyed this one Sherry.
Remind me and you can borrow it if you like.
I heard great things about this one but I confess that I haven’t tried it yet
Glad to hear it appeals to you. Hope you get a chance to read it. I really enjoyed it and would like to read more.
I’ve had this book on my shelves for ages but to be honest, I have never had the best luck with angel books. Which leads to the question – why did I buy it? Glad you enjoyed it and maybe I will if I ever pick it up.
Hi Barb. If you do give it a read, I hope you enjoy it.
I’m so glad you enjoyed this one, Sherry! I loved it to pieces when I read it, and I’ve read the second book, too.
However, this is one of those series I don’t want to be over, so I’m holding off on reading the last book… still 🙂
Great review!
I love when I find a series like that too. This is definitely one I would like to finish.
Oh yes – I loved this one – and always intended to read the next book in the series. Thank you for reminding me about this one, Sherry:)
Me too!
I have had this in my tbr pile forever. You have me wanting to dig it out 🙂
