Celine’s life is spiraling out of control. She’s in danger of losing the beloved equestrian farm that was her childhood home. Her distant husband, Eric, is devoting a suspicious amount of time to a stunning new colleague. Then her young son, Brian, receives a devastating cancer diagnosis. How much worse can things get?

Felicity has uprooted her career and her teenage son, Justin, to get closer to Eric. She’s tired of keeping his secrets―that Eric’s frequent “business trips” have been spent playing family with them. Felicity is determined to get her happily ever after, even if it means confronting Celine at a delicate time.

But when Brian’s prognosis worsens, and a transplant from Justin becomes his best chance at survival, Felicity must make a wrenching decision about her son’s well-being―and Celine must accept that the “other woman” is her only hope. In another life Celine and Felicity might have been friends. Can they put aside the pain between them to do what’s best for their families―and their own futures?

$20 GC & Review – Lethal Wilderness Trap by Susan Furlong @partnersincr1me @Furlong_Sue

Lethal Wilderness Trap by Susan Furlong Banner

LETHAL WILDERNESS TRAP

by Susan Furlong

December 30, 2024 – January 31, 2025 Virtual Book Tour

Lethal Wilderness Trap by Susan Furlong is a fast paced thriller that I read in one sitting. It has a light Christian touch and had me rapidly flipping pages as the mystery unfolded. We have plenty of suspects and the villains were hidden amongst the red herrings. The characters felt real, and I quickly became involved in their outcome. Sure, the romance happened quickly, but when you know, you know. Having a K9 companion adds a nice touch and he plays a significant role in Lethal Wilderness Trap. I’ll have my eyes open for more from Susan Furlong.

Sherry’s Shelves 12.29.24 – 1.4.25

Hi Everyone. I have not been much into blogging the past week or so, though I have read quite a few books. I have a lot of reviews to write and I hate when I let them lag behind. I’ll probably make them short and to the point so I can catch up. I have very few posts scheduled, so I’ll probably miss some days. That used to drive me crazy. but the past year was a rough one, so I’m trying to give myself a break. I don’t want to end up looking at something I enjoy as a job. Anyways…hope you had a wonderful holiday and are looking forward to the new year.

Review – Fear Of The Light by Ross Harrison @AuthoRoss

Amazon / Goodreads

Fear Of The Light by Ross Harrison is the eight novel in the Nexus universe. I have missed all the previous novels, except Forge Of The Assassin, but never felt lost. Sure, I didn’t know how all the characters came together, so I do highly recommend beginning at the beginning to get the full benefit.

Fear Of The Light is about the gunslinger, Archer, and the assassin, Juni. They are a couple…with secrets.

Archer is playing a dangerous game of cat and mouse. The sins of the father have passed down to him, but Juni is the one paying the price. She has been taken, and each day brings her closer to death.

Ross Harrison has created a fantastic science fiction world that I got lost in. There are lots of characters, but be careful of who you choose as your favorite. Not all of them will make it to the end. The suspense hovers over the pages, and I am waiting for the proverbial other shoe to drop. Every time I turn around, the danger increases.

When I got to the end…

It left me wondering…what comes next.

– The eighth novel in the sweeping science-fantasy NEXUS universe and sequel to Fear of the Dark

The gunslinger and the assassin. Star-crossed. Hopeful.

He’s dangerously in love. He’s willing to sacrifice everything. And he’s dying.

She’s unstoppable. She’s unbeatable. And she’s been taken.

An enemy they never saw coming has accomplished the he has kidnapped the assassin Juni Lien. To keep her alive, Travis Archer must face a series of ‘trials’, each pushing further away everyone who cares about him and leading to devastating consequences.

To save each other from the one foe neither of them can fight, they must each unravel the mysteries of the past. But as they dig deeper into this deranged kidnapper’s motives, they’ll uncover shocking secrets lurking in the shadows. As the truth is dragged into the light, an intricate web of deceit, manipulation, and misdirection threatens to destroy everything they’ve fought for.

If there’s one truth the kidnapper has spoken, it’s Hope is a lie.

Ross Harrison is the author of novels and short stories in the realms of science fiction – specifically space opera and science fantasy – thriller, noir, and steampunk. He has been writing since childhood, and occasionally likes to revisit those old stories for a good cringe and nervous laugh. He also talks about himself in the 3rd person because it seems more professional.

Ross lives on the UK/Eire border in Ireland, where he moved from England in 2001, hoping the rain will help his hair grow back.

Review – Bending The ARC by Nicholas Gretener #nicholasgretener #bendingthearc

Amazon / Kindle Unlimited / Goodreads

Bending The ARC by Nicholas Gretener is a story that pits lawyer, Steve Shane against a team of lawyers from the notable firm of Todd Ives Tillington. The disparity between them makes the outcome seem like a forgone conclusion. Not so fast.

How can the scales of justice be balanced? Enter LawForce, a legal SWAT team led by Steve Shane to do just that.

I had thought all the battles would take place in the courtroom, but that is not the case. On land and sea, Steve Shane will struggle to save Wildcat Oil & Gas from the Green Action Coalition.

Wildcat Oil & Gas is plagued by accidents, each more deadly than the last. But, things are not as they seem. At times, Nicholas Gretener had me sitting on the edge of my seat, tightly gripping my ereader as I raced through the pages to see what was going to happen next. Not all the characters will survive and I did not take their deaths lightly. I may have even shed a tear or two as the book came to its conclusion.

I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of Bending The ARC by Nicholas Gretener.

The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice .”
Martin Luther King, Jr.

Jonathan Hendrix, the youngest U.S. Attorney General in history, knows that bending the arc won’t happen on its own, help is needed. He is determined to curb runaway civil jury awards that are threatening to destabilize the economy.

Graduating law school, Steve Shane is a top wall street prospect. Shunning the big firms, he sets up his own practice and six years later has developed a solid reputation as a commercial litigator.

Hendrix recruits Shane to create LawForce, a government-supported, legal SWAT team to be deployed in key cases where an inequality of counsel threatens bad verdicts. Their first case – Green Action Coalition v. Wildcat Oil & Gas.

A medium sized oil and gas company, Wildcat is plagued by an apparently random series of environmental accidents. Not accidents according to the Green Action Coalition, a leader in the new era of aggressive environmental litigation, but evidence of a pattern of negligence. The damages sought by the GAC have the potential to destroy Wildcat. Acting for the GAC is a high-powered team of legal eagles from the blue-chip firm of Todd Ives Tillington, led by senior partner Andrew Tillington III. Wildcat appears hopelessly outclassed . . . then Shane is retained.

Shane and LawForce discover they are in for more than just a tough legal battle as they negotiate the twists and turns of the case to its explosive courtroom finale.

Review – The Apartment: Fear Stalks The Halls by Kevin Bachar @KevinPangolin

THE APARTMENT : Fear Stalks the Halls (Part 3 Houses of Horror Series)
THE APARTMENT : Fear Stalks the Halls (Part 3 Houses of Horror Series)

Amazon / Goodreads

As a youngster, Kevin Bachar had biked to Roosevelt Island and had become so curious, he went to the library to learn about the place. A lot of what he learned is now part of this novel, The Apartment: Fear Stalks The Halls. The apartment building used to be a lunatic asylum, so it’s the perfect setting for a horror novel.

Kat is the star of the show, so I’ll tell you about her. She was different than other people. She had a gift, but to her it felt like a curse. When her and her boyfriend moved to Roosevelt Island, it caused a disturbance. Her boyfriend was changing, going from right handed to left handed. She also noticed that her limp, a genetic disability, was gone. She was seeing ‘people’ in the hallways.

Murders were happening on the island. We have numerous suspects, and, boy, did I get this wrong. I love it. I had to race through the pages, couldn’t stop. Kevin led me down a road and I followed blindly. The ending was so unexpected and I love an author able to leave me with my jaw hanging open. That’s why I’m always happy to review one of his books.

An unholy being is unleashed in the terrifying novel From the EMMY-award-winning producer and screenwriter of the LIONSGATE horror film THE INHABITANT. What if the horrors of the past seeped into the present? THE APARTMENT is a place where every hallway, door, and staircase leads to madness. And where a serial killer by the name of THE HARVESTER has decided to stalk their victims.

Benjamin and his girlfriend Katherine move to New York City. Instead of stylish Manhattan, or hip Brooklyn, the couple end up on Roosevelt Island, a spit of land in the middle of the East River.

It’s secluded and steeped in sordid history. The place was once known as the ‘Island of the Damned’ when it was home to a prison, a small-pox hospital, and a mysterious building where strange experiments occurred.

Katherine starts to feel isolated and is tormented by terrifying dreams. She also notices changes in her boyfriend, subtle things and some not so subtle, like how he now eats with his left hand. Even his voice sounds different to Catherine, but is all this in her mind, or has Benjamin become host to a horrifying entity from the past?

Love! Gimme some love and heaps of romance. I have a sappy heart that just loves two people meeting, going through the cycles of a relationship, and ultimately, falling in love. Give me a good book like that and I’m a happy camper:)

I write contemporary and romantic suspense, but I am partial to suspense. I just love a good mystery.

Besides writing, I love baking, crafts, and baseball…oh, and meeting new people. *smiles*
