Wish I would not have waited so long to continue reading the series. So many characters I got confused. There is so much political machinations going on, that I have become bored with the brutal, crude, selfish and egotistical boy kings. Their emotions and impulses allow them to make mistakes that create some dangerous enemies that will come back to bite them. I am not sure if I like any of them and I’m not sure if they would survive anyway.
I checked this out from the library and I don’t know if I will continue the series or not.

AMAZON SYNOPSIS
THE BOOK BEHIND THE SECOND SEASON OF GAME OF THRONES, AN ORIGINAL SERIES NOW ON HBO.
In this eagerly awaited sequel to A Game of Thrones, George R. R. Martin has created a work of unsurpassed vision, power, and imagination. A Clash of Kings transports us to a world of revelry and revenge, wizardry and warfare unlike any you have ever experienced.
A CLASH OF KINGS
A comet the color of blood and flame cuts across the sky. And from the ancient citadel of Dragonstone to the forbidding shores of Winterfell, chaos reigns. Six factions struggle for control of a divided land and the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms, preparing to stake their claims through tempest, turmoil, and war. It is a tale in which brother plots against brother and the dead rise to walk in the night. Here a princess masquerades as an orphan boy; a knight of the mind prepares a poison for a treacherous sorceress; and wild men descend from the Mountains of the Moon to ravage the countryside. Against a backdrop of incest and fratricide, alchemy and murder, victory may go to the men and women possessed of the coldest steel…and the coldest hearts. For when kings clash, the whole land trembles.
It’s a real shame that you didn’t like this book. I totally love this series! I am glad that I watched the series a couple of times first so I could more or less put faces to the characters. It was a lot easier that way!
Yeah, there are definitely a lot of characters. You may be right.
I’ve wathed the series but not read the books yet. I think Chuckles has it right. We may enjoy the books more by watching the show first,
Maybe I’ll try that. Thanks for dropping in.
Me too! It was well written, but like you said, he jumped around like like a flea on a hot brick with a cast of thousands… And I, too, was disappointed.
I love how you put it. LOL Glad I wasn’t the only one that felt that way.
Aw sorry this was disappointing.
I guess that can’t only be unputdownable. 🙂
My son agreed that there was an overload of political content in this one, but he likes political elements, so it didn’t bother him too much. I’ll let you know what he says about the third one when he reads it. Maybe this book was Martin’s info dump book. 📚
Yeah, I know in these sagas that there is a bunch of info dump and that is how I felt about it. I know you had told me your son was reading the series too and we are both at the same place. I look forward to hearing what he thinks. 🙂
I reckon that this is a series you have to read closer together, I can understand your confusion.
