I love this cover for Dead Eye by Alyssa Day. Any story located in Florida is always on my list, and it looked like such a fun read…free too. Be sure and check for the ‘0’ and pick up a copy for yourself.
With such a great cover and destination, I could not pass on this wonderful paranormal mystery that spotlights a shapeshifter, a tiger to be precise, an I can see how you die pawnshop owner, and an orphan girl, as the danger draws closer the mystery draws them together and I can hardly wait to read more from Alyssa Day.
GOODREADS BLURB
For Jack Shepherd, tiger shape-shifter and former soldier, life is heading for a dead end. Dead End, Florida, to be exact. When he learns that he inherited a combination pawn shop/private investigation agency from his favorite uncle, Jack’s first job is to solve his uncle’s murder. Because sometimes it takes a tiger’s eye to see the truth.
The first chapter covers the end of Book II, Atlantis Awakening, so you could begin the series here, but you would have missed so much of the goodness, I recommend beginning with Book I, Atlantis Rising.
Ever since Keely had touched the wooden fish placed around her neck, she could see him…her blue haired warrior.
Who is she…the face Lord Justice keeps seeing?
I am lovin’ these fabulous love stories filled with magic and wonder. Each set of characters are unique in their own way, with secrets to be revealed. I love the feistiness of the female protagonists and their male warriors can TRY to control them all they want.
It was so funny when Brennan met Tiernan. Laughing through some very funny situations. I do like to enjoy my danger and torment. 🙂
I love Keely’s description of the Warriors…McHotties. I think that gives you a hint of Alyssa Day’s personality shining through her writing.
Funny, sweet, dangerous, uplifting, happy…OMG…the best one yet. I am blown away with this steamy, adult, sexually and magically explosive happy ever after.
But wait…it’s not over yet.

GOODREADS BLURB
Eleven thousand years
ago, Poseidon’s warriors swore an oath to protect humanity from those
who stalked the night. Now those powerful forces are uniting. So are two
souls who are all that stand between justice and the eternal
darkness…
Lord Justice made the ultimate sacrifice for his
brother and paid for it with unimaginable torture. Now he’s back,
rescued from death, his sanity shaken, and his mission inescapable: to
search for the lost star of Artemis. But the beautiful human female whom
he has sworn to protect is shadowed by an evil that could destroy them
both.
The archaeological artifacts of Atlantis speak to Dr.
Keely McDermott, sharing visions of life long ago. The ancient
revelations have cast her into a world between past and present, between
reality and illusion–and, when she meets the fierce Atlantean warrior
assigned to guard her, between terror and temptation. As their two
worlds collide, so too will danger and desire…
ABOUT ALYSSA DAY
Alyssa Day is the pen name (and dark and tortured alter ego) of
RITA award-winning author Alesia Holliday. She is a multiple finalist in
the prestigious RITA awards for excellence in romance fiction and has
won several awards for her novels.
ATLANTIS RISING was the first
of Alyssa’s Warriors of Poseidon novels for Berkley Publishing, and was
featured on the cover of the March, 2007, issue of Romantic Times
BOOKClub magazine! Additionally, it rocked the bestseller lists, hitting
the Waldenbooks, Borders, Barnes and Noble, Bookscan, and the
prestigious USA Today bestseller lists! ATLANTIS AWAKENING came along
several months together and did the same thing – only better!! And then
her anthology SHIFTER, with authors Angela Knight, Lora Leigh, and
Virginia Kantra, spent three weeks on the prestigious New York Times
bestseller list!
Her publisher was thrilled, her family was
thrilled (they could eat!), her dogs were thrilled (bacon!!). Now she’s
happily writing her fingers off, deep in the world of Atlantis, the
Warriors of Poseidon, and a new exciting group of allies (??), the Fae.
Alyssa
has long been an avid fan of all things Atlantis, supernatural, and in
any way pertaining to lost civilizations. When she was six, she told her
mother that she would discover Atlantis one day—and now she has!
In
2006, Alyssa (writing as Alesia) was awarded the Romance Writers of
America’s RITA® award. The RITA is the highest award of excellence in
the genre of romance fiction. If we can get this new website on track,

Alyssa Day writes some fantastic stories. After reading the first book in the series (see my review link below), Atlantis Rising, I had to have more…so here’s Atlantis Awakening.
Poseiden’s finest against vampires…I’d like to see that, but I’ll settle for reading about it.
Ven is second in line to the throne, but he doesn’t want it. He is happy being head of the Warrior Academy.
Erin Connor is a witch and knew she was in trouble when she came face to face with Ven. I think we all know where this is going, but I am looking forward to a slip sliding ride to Atlantis.
Ven quickly knew he would stop at nothing to protect her from those who pursue her.
The romance is otherwordly instalove, easy for me to accept in a novel where it is to be expected…which I will leave to you to find out why.
Atlantean, Elven, Vampires, Shapshifters, Witches…you never know who your friends are.
The world and characters are familiar, at least some of them, and I love learning more about them. Danger is always near and that creates suspense and curiosity for me.
Though the storyline is familiar and easy to figure out, I do like surprised lovers, magical love and battles between good and evil.
The romance is steamy and for adults only.
Even though Atlantis Awakening tells Ven and Erin’s story, it leaves us in a pickle with the overall storyline. I recommend reading in order to get the full impact.

from an overwhelming evil, Poseidon’s warriors have risen from Atlantis.
Chief among them is Ven, serving as the King’s Vengeance by birthright

human female….

filled with duty. He must serve as Atlantean liaison to the humans in a
war waged against the vampires. A sword is his weapon – not diplomacy.
But on a mission to recover the Nereid’s heart – a ruby of immense power
– it will take every ounce of strength he possesses to resist the
sexual allure of the beautiful witch chosen to work with him.
And the Witch… Erin’s
heart is filled with vengeance. She lives only for the chance at
revenge against those who murdered her family. Now she must partner with
a legendary Atlantean warrior whose dark desire threatens to crash
through the barriers built around her emotions – and her heart. Caught
in the trap of shifting alliances, how long can Ven and Erin resist
their awakening passion?
Dark forces beware: Atlantis is awakening.

Dead Eye by Alyssa Day is a paranormal romance mystery. I love the location, Florida. I keep my eyes open for shapeshifters and dead bodies, but, so far, none have come my way. How about you?
I love the cover. It makes me feel like this will be a ton of fun. I am 50% through on Kindle and lovin’ every minute of it.
For Jack Shepherd,
tiger shape-shifter and former soldier, life is heading for a dead end.
Dead End, Florida, to be exact. When he learns that he inherited a
combination pawn shop/private investigation agency from his favorite
uncle, Jack’s first job is to solve his uncle’s murder. Because
sometimes it takes a tiger’s eye to see the truth.
This novel is a paranormal mystery with magic, shape shifters, humor, vampires, a taxidermied alligator, witches, gunshots, bad singing, Crazy Hormonal Town, terrible parking, the FBI, swamp commandos, tigers, special agents, flirting, belly laughs, comedy, humor, and a pawn shop.
I love anything to do with water, so when I was given the opportunity to dive into Atlantis Rising by Alyssa Day, I was all in. Do you believe in the lost city? How about Poisedon?
Woo Hoo! Alyssa Day has certainly caught my attention with an empathic Riley Dawson and a hot group of Poseidon’s warriors that are on a treasure hunt, of sorts. I know I’m all tingly and ready to go. lol
Her grief called to him. It would not be denied. He must got to her.
The mental telepathic dialogue had me cracking up, so I put a smile on my face and prepared myself for a fun, sexy read. I mean, she’s an empath and he’s a high prince, the first of Poseidon’s warriors, so what could possibly go wrong.
“You’re not going to drink my blood or rip my arms off, are you? Because my day has really sucked, and I’m so not up for that,” she said…
Barrabas, a powerful vampire, felt the disturbance caused by their meeting. Oh man, so cool. Water warriors and blood sucking Vampires. What more could I want? I am hooked and happy.
Everything Conlan does is for Atlantis, so denying his overwhelming desire for Riley, who is not only a forbidden human, but also an empath, literally brought him to his knees. Conlan and his warriors were tasked with protecting the humans from shapeshifters and vampires, and were clearly from the Land of Hunk.
I am feeling upbeat, having fun, sharing Conlan and Riley’s internal dialogue and lovin ‘ every minute of it. And now we find out why they are above ground…Poseidon’s Trident has been stolen. Conlan could lose his kingdom if they don’t recover it.
“You’re not a vampire, because you’ve got a heartbeat,” she said. “Are you a shapeshifter? What kind of furry are you going to get?” He laughed. “I’m not going to turn furry, brave one. I am nothing you know.”
Conlan knows that empaths don’t exist, yet here’s Riley. He also knows that the soul meld doesn’t exist, yet how to explain the sparks between them.
Well, Alyssa, you drew me in, kept me riveted to the pages, worrying and fretting, laughing and smiling, never letting me go. The action kept the story flowing as I devoured the words. The world created was full of wonder and I am so happy to have been able to visit Atlantis and meet all these fabulous characters that escaped from the mind of Alyssa Day.

GOODREADS BLURB
Eleven thousand years ago, before the seas swallowed the Atlanteans,
Poseidon assigned a few chosen warriors to act as sentinels for humans
in the new world. There was only one rule-desiring them was forbidden.
But rules were made to be broken…
When she calls… Riley
Dawson is more than a dedicated Virginia Beach social worker. She’s
blessed with a mind link that only Atlanteans have been able to access
for thousands of years. Being an “empath” may explain her wistful
connection to the roiling waves of the ocean, the sanctuary it provides,
and the sexual urges that seem to emanate from fathoms below…
He will come. Conlan,
the High Prince of Atlantis, has surfaced on a mission to retrieve
Poseidon’s stolen trident. Yet something else has possessed Conlan: the
intimate emotions-and desires-of a human. Irresistibly drawn to the
uncanny beauty, Conlan soon shares more than his mind. But in the midst
of a battle to reclaim Poseidon’s power, how long can a forbidden love
last between two different souls from two different worlds?
