Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

Grab your current read

Open to a random page.

Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page

BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)

Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

The Afterworld Series, Book II

I loved RecruitZ, the first book in the series and I am excited to continue with Rebekah’s story.

MY TEASE

This morning’s news had brought seven more deaths. The majority were government officials, but there was a kindergarten teacher and her husband thrown into the mix. My hunch was that it was a deliberate kill to throw the authorities off track.
(26% on Kindle)

SYNOPSIS

Rebekah vows to expose the truth behind the RecruitZ that are killing the innocents. These creatures must be stopped, but so should the people controlling them. When Rebekah uncovers who is behind the uprisings, her own life becomes in danger.

My Review of RecruitZ, Book I of the Afterworld Series with a character interview and excerpt.

Some seriously awesome covers.

FREEBLOOD by Marny Copal

There is plenty of blood, guts and gore for all of you gruesome horror lovers.

What does it take to kill a vampire? Are the stories you’ve heard really true?

I read and reviewed Freeblood by Marny Copal in February of 2013.

I was looking at my bookshelf, it’s just something I do, and saw this cover. It’s different from many covers and stands out, so I grabbed it for this weeks meme. I hope you enjoy another fun and gruesome horror novel for the waning days of October.

Freeblood

1771e-addtogoodreadsblack

(page 56 of a paperback)

But she didn’t know she’d end up this way, a small voice cried from within. She’d heard that vampire blood was powerful and that she coud get hooked, but she didn’t believe it. Addicted? Not her. Will of steel. She’d drink the blood a couple times, rescue Mom and Theo, then she wouldn’t need it anymore.

(Book Beginnings)

A slender feminine figure stepped out of the apartment building and started across the rubble. In the dim twilight, Quinn recognized the precise, purposeful gait of her cousin. Picking her way through burned-out remains wasn’t a typical hobby for the well-groomer Kasey, so Quinn knew this meant trouble. She dropped her armload of bricks and ran the back of one glove across her brow.

Kasey planted herself squarely. “Have you been keeping secrets from me?”

My Review of Freeblood by Marny Copal

SYNOPSIS

Secrets and lies have surrounded 21-year-old Quinn Zauber since a vampire killed her mother and brother a year ago. Jo-Jo Huang, her best friend and roommate, has offered steady support, even going along with Quinn’s crazy ghost-hunting schemes. Now Jo-Jo has been kidnapped, and clues point to an audio recorder the roomies placed in Portland’s notorious underground tunnels.

With her naïve cousin Kasey riding shotgun and an old attraction, paranormal investigator Del Whelan, imposing his own brand of help, Quinn searches for Jo-Jo, fights supernaturals, and strives to keep her horrible secrets under wraps.

What Quinn doesn’t realize is that her witch bloodline makes her of special interest to one of the deadliest vampires around.

THE EYES DIE LAST by Teri Riggs

I love murder, mystery and suspense, so when I saw Teri Riggs’ novel, The Eyes Die Last, I knew it was a book that was right up my alley. All I have to do now is dodge all the hookers and johns. lol

Be sure and stay tuned for my review on July 31, 2014.

Nick got a beer out of the bar fridge and sat down on his couch. His muscles were still knotted after seeing the news clip of his altercation with Ms. Mixer and the biased interview Hershey had given. It’s bad enough to be called a murderer on live television, but in an odd way, the idea of the slimy news anchor conferring with Detective O’Brien about the case was more unsettling. He’d never been jealous a day in his life. Was he now? Is this how jealousy felt? What did he have to b jealous about?

The way Ed told the story, he and the detective had spent an entire evening discussing the murders. An evening trying to  pin the murders on Nick and doing who knows what else. Was there a relationship between the two of them? Surely the detective wouldn’t be interested in someone like Ed. Would she? Why in the hell would Nick care if she was? He had bigger issued to deal with for now. Like spending some time remembering how to relax.

SYNOPSIS

The Las Vegas Mayoral race is heating up, and the incumbent doesn’t have a prayer. Wealthy real estate speculator Nick Campenelli, who wants to legalize prostitution in Clark County, and former pastor Louis St. Louis, running on a ‘clean-up-Vegas-by-getting-rid-of-the-whores’ platform, are the front runners.

They’re also front runners on the suspect list for a string of murders. Kennedy O’Brien, four-year detective with cop blood running in her veins, and her partner Wilder “Wild Thing” James, a veteran, are determined to find the man who’s murdering prostitutes who work the wrong side of the street, and they don’t care how important or politically active he is.

The killer is a man with a mission. He stalks the women before he kills them, leaving a “BEFORE” photo on their bodies, and sending an “AFTER” shot to the local news hound. Ed Hershey, an aging newscaster with just the right amount of grey in his hair, is determined to turn this story into a network gig, and his interference, along with the LVTVS legal team, are making Kennedy and Wilder look bad. Campenelli’s good looks and charm, and St. Louis’ vitriolic hatred of prostitutes are muddying the waters too, and now the killer seems to have taken a liking to Kennedy.

So the big question remains. Can she get him before he gets her?
