Smash, Smash, Smash: The True Story Of Kai The Hitchhiker by Philip Fairbanks was an immersion into the corruption running rampant in New Jersey and, even though we hear Kai’s story, it almost takes a backseat as the details unfold with the haves and have nots, where justice does not always prevail and sometimes it’s more about money and who you know.

“That woman was in danger, so I ran up behind him with a hatchet… Smash, smash, SUH-MASH!!!” Millions of people heard these words and shared the viral video with their friends. This mysterious surfing hitchhiker then vanished as quickly as he appeared, only to reappear on many late night talk shows and fan videos. But 3 months later, he was arrested and charged with killing a prominent New Jersey lawyer… in self defense against a sex assault. Who is this mysterious hitchhiker? What was with that lawyer who drugged and assaulted him? Why would the investigators destroy evidence, tamper with witnesses, and shut the public out of the trial? For almost a decade, the public was kept in the until investigative journalist Philip Fairbanks searched for the truth in mountains of government records, witness statements, and hard evidence. At long last, he found the answers to these burning, aching questions… And they will surprise you.

I never would have read this if it hadn’t been for a free day. Just because it’s free doesn’t bother me. Some of the best books I have ever read were free. Whether on my ereader, through brick and mortar stores, or through the library, I have traveled the world, lived through my wildest fantasies and even learned a few things along the way.
I have just gotten back into golf after an injury, so I was excited to swing the clubs. I even hit a few really good shots, and that made me feel good. The weather was warm, with a balmy breeze and the birds singing. What could be better?
Well, I did feel pretty stiff. Many of the swings felt awkward, out of sync. I knew I was tight. Always have been. I feel, with many of the things I learned in Play Better Golf With Easy Yoga by Patricia Bacall, I can improve my swing be availing myself of the suggested yoga poses and the reasons for them. The illustrations and instructions are good. I feel, with a little practice, I will be able to incorporate them into my exercise regimen. Some of them I am already doing, having picked them up through the internet for some reason or another.
The book is easy to read and understand. I learned more about target specific poses that incorporate your entire body, that being a necessity in golf. The poses are easy to convert to an easier style for those of us that are way too tight. lol
Body and mind working together to make your golf day even more enjoyable.

Audrey Schaerrer attended the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) in Indianapolis, United States of America, and qualified in Fitness Management, Nutritional Therapy and Science of Exercise. She has been practicing as a nutritional therapist and food specialist in Europe for over twenty years.
Audrey is mother to an 11-year-old girl, and she considers motherhood as an exciting living experience. She has always affirmed and demonstrated that raising children constitutes a passion which no mother should set aside, and that strongly positive values should be imbued in one’s own children for them to grow up as true and genuine leaders of tomorrow’s world. This publication highlights the importance of children’s attendance in the kitchen where they may watch and partake in the preparation of their family’s eating patterns.
Audrey’s mission is (i) to help busy parents and individuals lead a healthier lifestyle with fuss-free, varied, delicious meal plans and products, (ii) to introduce delicious foods that enhance physical and mental health, as well as general wellbeing, and (iii) to help clients look after their health naturally, lowering cholesterol, controlling blood pressure, and properly tackling functional gastrointestinal disorders by means of a naturally healthier lifestyle. Audrey’s view is that, like medicine, food can help avoid many illnesses in adults and children including diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, depression, cancer and heart-related illnesses.
Her core belief in raising children through example has driven her to create a platform which is accessible to all persons wishing a healthier lifestyle and to allow healthy nutrition to become a target at everybody’s reach.
I love to invite authors to share their thoughts and am so happy to have Marielle S Smith here today to share five of her favorite gratitude quotes.
Five of my favourite
gratitude quotes
With two gratitude journals out there, I’ve gathered
a fair collection of gratitude quotes. In today’s post, I’ll be sharing some of my favourite quotes from both the first and
second volume of the 365 Days of Gratitude Journal.
Life
is a series of thousands of tiny miracles. Notice them.
—Roald Dahl
I just
love this quote and it’s so in line with the one by Albert Einstein I included
in the introduction to the journal: ‘There are only two ways
to live your life. One is as though nothing
is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a
miracle.’
Each time I
hear or read any of these two quotes, my perspective instantly shifts to
something much lighter and joyful and I can’t help but smile.
The more grateful I am, the more beauty I see.
—Mary Davis
There’s a reason I put this quote on the cover of the second volume—it
hits home every time. I can’t even put my finger on why, it just does. And I
know from experience just how truthful this statement is, which is why I get a
little bit frustrated with myself each time there’s a lull in my gratitude
practice.
It’s a good thing it’s so easy to get back into it!
We should certainly count our blessings, but we
should also make our blessings count.
—Neal A. Maxwell
Back in my
student days, I had a conversation with my supervisor about privilege. As a
relatively privileged woman—I’m white, cisgender, able-bodied, I can pass as
straight, I was getting a higher education—I struggled with those privileges
because it all felt a little unfair to me.
I’ll never
forget how she responded. She said: ‘There’s no point in feeling bad or guilty
about where you came from, because that’s beyond your control. But what you can
do is use whatever privilege you happen to have to help dismantle the system
that created these privileges in the first place.’
This quote
reminds me of that conversation and that I should really use all of my
blessings, including my privileges, for the greater good.
When you
focus on the good, the good gets better.
—Abraham Hicks
Whether this is
actually true, I couldn’t tell you, but it’s definitely something I want to
believe. At the very least, this quote reminds me to focus on the good things
that are happening in my life instead of all the things I’m not as thrilled
about, and that always makes me feel better instantly.
We’re all so busy chasing the extraordinary that we forget to stop and
be grateful for the ordinary.
—Brené Brown
This quote
is, in a nutshell, why I decided to create a gratitude journal in the first
place. We tend to celebrate and express gratitude over the big milestones and
large blessings in our lives, but the key to living a grateful life is to learn
to notice and be thankful for all those teeny tiny things we so easily take for
granted.
What are you grateful for today? Can you name
one thin
Thanks so much for being here today, Michelle. I hope everyone enjoyed the post.

Stephanie
Jane has been an avid reader for as long as she can remember. She loves discovering new authors from all around the world and is happiest when engrossed in a compelling novel with tea and cake to hand.
Raised in Sussex, England, Stephanie developed a wanderlust in her late twenties. She spends her time exploring the UK and Western Europe with
her partner, setting out on foot or bicycle from their almost-vintage motorhome, and firmly believes everywhere has something worth seeing if we slow down enough to appreciate its smallest details.
Stephanie has been vegan since 2019 and strives to incorporate zero waste ideals into her life. She enjoys browsing vintage clothing shops and would
collect antique kitchenware if she ever again lives in a house with enough space.
Books from the Backlog is a fun way to feature some of those
neglected books sitting on your bookshelf unread. If you are anything
like me, you might be surprised by some of the unread books hiding in
your stacks.
A movie heart-throb A sports superstar An aristocrat A brilliant surgeon
Killers all.
These are the stories of those they killed.
Their wives.
‘The Night My Husband Killed Me’, is the story of four women who were murdered by their husbands.
All
of the women were beautiful, and were either famous at the time of
their deaths, or became famous for being the victims of the charismatic,
disturbed, men who ended their lives.
Being dead doesn’t end a
woman’s feelings, or her anger. There is Natalie, the international and
revered movie star who died the death she had most feared all of her
life. There is the beautiful, life-loving Nicole, who might just have
gone back to the stunning athlete she loved, if only he hadn’t killed
her first. Then there is Sunny, heiress to one of America’s greatest
fortunes, sent into an irreversible coma for paying too much for all the
wrong things. And finally, there is Colette, the high school sweetheart
who married the golden boy and endured a marriage of increasing lies
and disappointment, culminating in her death and that of her little
girls shortly after Valentine’s Day.
These four amazing women’s lives were cut short, but each has a story to tell … and now they have.
I added The Night My Husband Killed Me by Kathlen Hewtson on 2.4.13. This is nonfiction…the story of four women who lost their lives to the one who was supposed to love them. I love delving into the minds of twisted people, whether factual or fictional. How about you? Do you like getting down and dirty with the bad guys?
